MOSCOW, August 26 (Itar-Tass) — One crewmember was killed during a rough landing of a Mi-24 military transport helicopter in Russia’s Primorye, a spokesman from the Eastern Military District has reported.
The plane made a rough landing 20 kilometres northeast of the Chernikovka settlement (Primorye) at 12:16 Moscow time on Friday, he said.
“When the helicopter hit the ground it caught fire, as a result of which one crewmember was killed,” the military source said.
One person died and two were injured during the crash of a Mi-24 military helicopter in Russia’s Primorye, a source from regional law enforcement agencies have told Tass by telephone.
“According to early reports, a Mi-24 military transport helicopter crashed near Ussuriisk at about noon Moscow time,” the source said. “As a result one person was killed and two more were injured, but they managed to get out of the helicopter,” the source added.
It was not immediately clear how many people were on board. “Presumably, there were four people on board the helicopter,” law enforcement sources said. Nobody was injured on the ground, and there are no destructions.
