MOSCOW, August 26 (Itar-Tass) —— The crash of the Progress spacecraft has had no negative effect on human health and has not raised the water and ground radiation level, the chief of the federal human health control service (Rospotrebnadzor), Gennady Onishchenko, told reporters on Friday.
The site where the spacecraft supposedly fell (the Choya district in the Altai Republic) is 80-100 kilometres away from the nearest residential site. It is a 24-hour-long walk. There are no people at the site, he said.
No people have asked for medical help due to the rocket fall. People come to consult doctors due to some illnesses not connected with the incident, Onishchenko said.
"We monitor the water and ground. The results of tests of water in the rivers meet the requirements, the chief medical inspector assured.
