KHABAROVSK, August 26 (Itar-Tass) —— There are seven forest fires on a total area of 126 ha in the Far East this Friday, the Forestry Department in the Far East Federal District reports.
Three fires are continuing burning in Yakutia, one in the Amur Region, one in the Magadan Region, one in Kamchatka and one in Chukotka, a department source said.
All the outbreaks in Yakutia and the Amur Region are localized.
Since the beginning of the season, there have been 1,743 wildfires in the region. Almost 919,000 ha, including 720,200 ha of forests, burned up.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry's regional centre recommends to bar access to forests for the population. A meeting of the commission on emergencies in the Amur Region on Thursday noted that the region's forest flammability risk was rated at the fourth of the five degrees. The situation is complicated by the dry and hot weather that will last until the end of this month.
Preparations continue in residential sites in the Far East for the autumn wildfire risk season -- mineralized protection lines are restored, and new machines are provided for forest fire-fighting services.
