Powerful explosive device destroyed in Nazran

Its power was equivalent to 5-10 kilograms of TNT

NAZRAN, August 25 (Itar-Tass) —— A homemade explosive device was found in a private house in the district Nasyr-Kortovsky of Ingushetia’s city of Nazran on Thursday morning. As ITAR-TASS learnt at the law enforcement bodies of the republic, its power was equivalent to 5-10 kilograms of TNT.

“The bomb was destroyed by means of an explosion,” a law enforcer said, specifying that it was found during a special operation conducted within the framework of the anti-terrorist operation regime in the given area.

The antiterrorist operation regime was introduced in the settlement of Ordzhonikidzevskaya of the Sunzha region and in a part of the territory of Nazran of the republic at 05.30 Moscow time due to the available information that some gunmen are staying there to commit acts of terrorism.

Law enforcers established that Magomed Imagozhev, who was on the wanted list for the participation in an attack on Ingushetia within Basayev’s gang in 2004 was living in the house. Imagozhev was detained.

“Within the framework of the special operation a submachine-gun was found in another house in the same district. A suspect was detained for its illegal keeping,” the law enforcer said.
